Cyberattack Exposes Personal Data of 211,000 Patients at University of Iowa Health Care Affiliate

UI Community HomeCare, an affiliate of University of Iowa Health Care, suffered a cyberattack that exposed personal and medical information of approximately 211,000 patients. The organization quickly shut down systems and restored them within 24 hours while launching an investigation. Compromised data included names, birth dates, medical record numbers, and insurance information, though no misuse has been detected. Both organizations are working to strengthen cybersecurity measures and have notified all affected patients.
